From Killorglin follow the N70 Ring of Kerry Road to Cahersiveen. Continue through the town until you meet a sign signalling the turn for the Valentia Island Car Ferry. The ferry operates from late March to early October. The journey between Reenard Point and Knightstown takes approximately 10 minutes.
From October to March, continue on the N70 Ring of Kerry Road. Approximately 5km outside Cahersiveen follow the signs to the right for Portmagee and Valentia Island.
From here, it is a 20 minute drive over the bridge at Portmagee and on to Knightstown.
Transfer from nearest airport, rail and bus
Visitors can fly into Kerry Airport from Dublin or London with Aer Lingus Regional or Ryanair. There are car hire facilities at the airport or you can transfer to Atlantic Villa by taxi or hackney hire. Bus Eireann route 271 stops at Kerry Airport and transfers to Killarney. From Killarney bus station, route 279 operates to Cahersiveen year round with an additional service 280 operating for the months of July and August servicing the Ring of Kerry.
The nearest rail station is located in Killarney and visitors can complete the journey to Cahersiveen by bus, taxi or hackney hire. There are a number of local taxi operators that can bring you from Cahersiveen to the ferry departure point or to Knightstown.
